The International Conference on Mathematics and Mathematics Education is a conference jointly organized by the Postgraduate Institute of Science, the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka, and the National Institute of Education.
The first ICMME installment was done in 2019, and it was a huge success. We received more than 80 abstracts, out of which 68 were presented at the conference. The event was graced by two distinguished keynote speakers, Prof. Kathy Horadam of RMIT, and Prof. Rhonda Craven of IPPE.
The Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS) is a National Institute established by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in 1996, for the purpose of providing, promoting and developing higher education in science. It is the premier Postgraduate Science Institution in Sri Lanka.
The PGIS is attached to the University of Peradeniya and depends on the university for formulation and implementation of its academic programmes and the award of postgraduate degrees.
The institute strives to achieve its principle objectives to provide postgraduate instruction and training and facilitate research in different disciplines of science by; Stimulating creative thought while making available existing knowledge in the chosen fields Providing an atmosphere where free intellectual activity can flourish Including a responsibility and sensitivity about the scientific and technological needs of the society
ICMME 2021 is a hybrid event. This means some presentations will be done in person at the PGIS, and some presentations will be done online. By organizing a hybrid conference, we are encouraging more participants to the event.
We let the participants decide what mode they want to present, but encourage local participants to present in-person. The whole event will be cast live online, and anyone can join for free of charge at the time of the conference. The fees are for participants who wish to publish in the proceedings.
